CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO)

The South African Cultivar and Technology Agency (SACTA) is a non-profit company responsible for the administration of statutory levies, which are imposed on certain self-pollinating crops. The purpose of the levies is to advance plant breeding of these crops and to ensure the availability of the latest biotechnology in the crops, where applicable.

The Chief Executive Officer, who reports directly to the Board and serves as an ex officio Executive Director with the permission of the Board, will be mainly responsible for leading and influencing the organisation towards favourable growth and to design and direct strategies that will support the company’s operational goals.

Some of the most important duties of the Chief Executive Officer will include the following:

  • Developing organisational strategic objectives.
  • Building and strengthening key stakeholder relationships at executive level.
  • Communicating with government stakeholders at a high-level.
  • Providing strategic direction to the SACTA Board.
  • Overseeing business activities.
  • Creating a positive and ethical image and reputation for SACTA.
  • Maintaining corporate governance within the Company, especially within the new era farmer development environment and transformation programme of SACTA.

Experience, Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge required:

  • Post Matric: Appropriate postgraduate qualification (at least Masters level).

[Postgraduate qualification in management (MBA/MBL) will be an advantage].

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in an agricultural environment.
  • Highly organised and ethical.
  • Project management experience.
  • Effective communicator.
  • Good motivational skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.

Job Type: Renewable three-year (3 year) contract.

Salary: Negotiable, in line with the responsibilities.

Location: Pretoria.

SACTA Transformation Manager

TRANSFORMATION MANAGER

The South African Cultivar and Technology Agency (SACTA) is a non-profit company responsible for the administration of statutory levies, which are imposed on certain self-pollinating crops. The purpose of the levies is to advance plant breeding of these crops and to ensure the availability of the latest biotechnology in the crops, where applicable.

The Transformation Manager, who will report directly to the CEO, will be responsible for providing development inputs and implementation of the organisation’s long-term transformation strategy, with the main aim of establishing successful new era commercial farmers in the grain and oilseeds industries.

Some of the most important duties of the Transformation Manager will include the following:

  • Developing strategic transformation objectives.
  • Building and strengthening key stakeholder relationships.
  • Ensuring support by government for a viable breeding and technology levy system.
  • Providing strategic inputs for the development of the SACTA transformation policy.
  • Ensuring the implementation of SACTA’s transformation strategies.
  • Promoting a positive and ethical image and reputation for SACTA.
  • Maintaining corporate governance within the new era farmer development environment and the transformation programme of SACTA.

Experience, Qualifications and Knowledge required:

  • Post Matric: Appropriate postgraduate qualification in respect of the functions. [Postgraduate qualification in management (MBA/MBL) will be an advantage].
  • 5 to 10 years’ experience in an agricultural environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years in role, including exposure to the following:
  • Financial Management.
  • Project Management.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Engagement.
  • Project Implementation.

Service Provider Tenders

SERVICE PROVIDER PROPOSALS AND QUOTATIONS

The policy of Grain Building (Pty) Ltd is to every five years request proposals and quotations from service providers in respect of all the services required by the Grain Building Agri-hub Office Park and in relation to some services required by the Company itself.

The Grain Building Agri-hub Office Park is situated at the foot of the Bronberg Nature Reserve in the Willows in Pretoria and comprises five free-standing two-storey buildings.  The grounds of the Office Park measure approximately 8 hectares and the buildings measure a total of 21 200 m² (GLA).  There are large developed and undeveloped garden areas, as well as flowerbeds and planters surrounding all the buildings.

Each building has male and female ablutions on every floor, as well as ablutions for the disabled on each ground level.  Separate ablutions and kitchen areas are provided for service providers and security guards in both basements and at the main entrance.  The Office Park is currently nearly fully occupied by a variety of agricultural and commercial tenants.  The main building also hosts state of the art conference facilities and there is a full-time licensed restaurant on the premises.

Details regarding the format and submission of the required proposals and quotations can be obtained from the Company Secretary at leon@llagric.co.za.  Plans and information regarding the Office Park and the individual buildings can be obtained directly from the Facilities Manager, Mr. Hannes Lötter, at hannes@llagric.co.za. Visits to the premises can also be arranged in advance with Mr. Lötter.

Service providers in the following fields are invited to submit proposals and quotations for consideration by the Board of Directors:

Proposals and quotations submitted in terms of this invitation should:

  1. demonstrate the ability of the bidder to provide quality services;
  2. indicate the experience of the bidder in providing such services;
  3. include a detailed breakdown of the quoted cost for the services;
  4. take into account the outlay and requirements pertaining to the Office Park;
  5. include alternative proposals in respect of different cost options.
